Poker News and Reviews

100k freezeout will take place Thurs 29th & Fri 30th Dec both starting at 7:15 sharp.

Please arrive early to collect your chips etc.

20th November 2011 100,000 Christmas Tourney Saturday 10th Dec: 1-5 p.m. - 7-12 p.m..

We will continue with the 50k monthly events. These will be the last Friday of the month unless otherwise stated.

On either Saturday 10th Dec or Sat 17th Dec there will be a £100,000k Christmas tourney with the usual 1k of chips for every £1 buy-in. Minimum buy-in is £50 - 50,000 chips, Max is £100 for 100,000**.
In addition to this, I will add the monies collected to that date from the current series to bump up the prize fund.

I estimate we will receive around £2000 in all if the entries are similar to last year, so this should make for a good Christmas bonus for those who get into the money.

The tourney will be over one day (one of the Saturday's above) and run from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. and then from 7:00 p.m. - till midnight on the same day.

** Given the "extra prize money" we are adding has come from those who have entered the previous tourneys in the current series, I estimate this will make up around 20% of the prize fund. For this reason, anyone can enter this one day tourney but anyone who has already played in the current series to date will receive 20% extra chips to those they actually buy given they have contributed to the extra prize fund being added.

So a player in the current series buying in for £100 will not receive 100,000 chips but will receive 120,000 chips. A player entering the December tourney and not already in the series also by buying in for £100 will receive 100,000 chips.

19th October 2011 Fat Tony and Iceman Close In

T15 and T16 are Both Double Pointers

Fat Tony & Iceman close the gap at the top with Fat Tony taking T15's Double Pointer.

This year's Final Table will probably be reduced to just 8 seats so anyone thinking of qualifying had best get playing now and earn some much needed ranking points.

24th Sept 2011 Banjo and Pollux stretch lead at top

Banjo (3) and Pollux (4) have won 7 of the first 12 tourneys and have left quite a gap in the field from 2nd to 3rd place.

The Sept 50k tourney is on Fri 30th Sept. Usual rules apply and entries received before 7:00 p.m. will receive an extra 2,000 chips.

6th Sept 2011 Banjo takes T1 in new series

Banjo made it three wins in eight tourneys and now looks set to challenge the record of seven wins in a 32 series by The Bandit and Bad Company. Fat Tony and Ace Rag made up 2nd and third positions. Iceman also made another welcome return and looks to have made a great recovery

31st July 2011 Banjo takes T1 in new series

Banjo made a good start to the new series by winning T1. Once again The Bandit and Ace Rage featured well in the other cash positions.

The Final Table will soon be played and there is now a 50k tourney for the last Sunday of every month. Details will follow.

23rd July 2011 Previous Nine Bracelet winners meet to do Batte. The Bandit makes Final Table with win in T32

Ladbrokes have cut their odds to 1-6 for Pollux to win the Nine Bracelets challenge which sees 9 previous bracelet winners meet to do battle in a special one-off challenge. Pullux has gone out to 7-2 with Pollux the complete outsider at 100-1.

The Bandit had to win T32 to take a seat at the Final Table and that's just what he did. In a tense affair with Lester with the blinds up to 32k and 64k The Bandit finally got home with no room for error. Even 2nd place woudln't have been enough and would have let in Bad company.

Dates for Final Table to follow. 50k Cash tabel is on Sun 24th July starting at 7:00 p.m. sharp. Players can buy anything from 20k up to 50k worth of chips in this five hour special.

Bracelet winners to do battle

17th July 2011 Final Two Tourneys Sun 17th and Fri 22nd July

With just two tourneys to go, it's still tight at the top and bottom of the leader board. Any one from 6 can win the next series' bracelet and any one from from 5 can still make the top ten.

Razor takes T30 with Harry Potter not quite able to cast his winning spell to finish 2nd after a long awaited return. Razor who now edges into 11th after this DOUBLE POINTS win. Banjo was 3rd and continues his fine run and is only a hand full of points behind Scolari.

5th July 2011 The Iceman Cometh - Pollux Increases Lead

The Iceman has had to take a short vacation after the shock of winning his first tourney of the series. The resulting dance around the car park caused a stress fracture in his leg. Only that Banjo was on hand to take him him and treat him with an intravenus of Budweiser and scotch, things could have been much worse.

He now plays Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan at The Whiston Ballagio Casino. We wish him well and look froward to his return.

With T28 looming there are only three tourneys left in which to use up your two jokers if you haven't already used them. The Final Table is looking liek it will be around the last week of July.

4th July 2011 Banjo Still on Song

Banjo continues his fine run of form with another win. This time it was against Pollux, who was unlucky not to win himself when hitting trips off the flop, only to be hit with runner runner for a straight.

With only 5k in points between 8th and 3rd in the table the charge will be on as we go to T27 of 32. Third will get 39k of chips at the Final Table as opposed to 17k for 8th.

20th June 2011 Banjo knocks down Great Wall

Banjo somehow overcame Bad Company's enormous wall of chips to take T23 to make it a 2nd and 1st in his last two comps and move him into 6th position.

Bad Company is now within touching distance of the top 10 and it's still anyone guess who will make the Final Table with the points being so close. Finishing as high as possible is a must given there is such a difference in the chips awarded between 1st and 10th at the Final Table.

Remember, you can only use a maximum of two jokers during T25 - T30 inclusive. T24, T31 and T32 are not elligible as these are already Double Pointers.

Chips and chip standings for 'Final Table' at End of July 2011

1st 35,280 chips
2nd 32,760 chips
3rd 30,240 chips
4th 27,720 chips
5th 25,200 chips
6th 22,680 chips
7th 20,160 chips
8th 17,640 chips
9th 15,120 chips
10th 12,600 chips

14th June 2011 Jammy Are Wins - Again!

Pollux wins T20 making it his 6th win in 18 starts. He was closely followed in 2nd by Banjo with Razor in 3rd.

With only the last 3rd of the series to go anyone can still win the coveted first place and take maximum chips to the final table.

A £50 one off is also planned for mid July - watch this space. Players receive 1,000 chips per pound entered and are welcome to pay on the drip between now and when we start if they wish.

14th June 2011 Scolari Takes Lead

Scolari takes pole position after winning two tourney back to back including the recent Double Pointer.

15th May 2011 The Bull & Banjo takes Double pointers in T15 & T16

Congrats to The Bull and Banjo who took the back-to-back Double Pointers as we cross the half way stage of the series.

4th April 2011 Three percenter for Pollux

Pollux pulled off a win where he would normally lose 97% of the time agasint the unlucky but gracious loser Fat Tony to take pole position as we come into the two double pointers that take us to the hald way stage in the series.

4th April 2011 The Big Four pull Away after T10

With only one Tourney winner outside the top four, it's looking ominous for the also rans.

Iceman was unlucky to lose out to Pullux in 3rd in T10 but was gracious enough to then offer some very helpful advice to Scolari in the remaining head-to-head which Scolari was very grateful for.

The advice was fast and furious as comments reigned in after every bet and decision that seemed to go wrong. It wasn't that Scolaris wasn't grateful of course, and it was probably purely concidental that Scolaris hands working away on his mobile were not related to then then incoming texts that Iceman received saying. "Taxi for Iceman !".

Players are reminded that Friday tourneys offically start at 7:45pm and Sunday comps at 7:30 p.m.

29th Mar 2011 The Gent Bounces Back

After a long hiyatus from the tables The Gent bounces straight back with two wins and both with Double Points. How good is that! - Jammy ****er.

A quarter of the way through the series there are still a number of double points to play for with the chance of triple points for those not having used their jokers yet.

T9 sees the first of the Bounty Hunters (T9) with T10 seeing us through the first third of the series.

12th Mar 2011 Fat Tony back in Pole Position

Fat Tony is back at the top of the series table after winning his 2nd tounrey of the series to join Pollux on two wins. The Player was 2nd with Pollux in 3rd.

T7 and T8 see us reach the end of the first quarter of the series with T8 being a new format Bounty Hunter where cash prizes are awarded for knockouts as well as the usual 123 prozes. On top of this are the normal ranking points.

12th Mar 2011 Lester jumps from 12th into 1st in overall Table

Afrer a three week absence in hospital Lester returned to win the first ever triple pointer and go from 12th position into 1st with a 15k points total win. There is some speculation though, as utube links sent to me since his win, show Lester in the Ballagio in Vegas with Phil Ivey only days before!

The Rocket made a welcome return and also creeps into the top 10.

T6 is also another Double Pointer and if the randon ace comes out again we could be on for another triple pointer.

Still no Sign of Bracelet winner The Gent who will need to move some if he's to cath up after a no-show in all events to date.

2nd Mar 2011 Fat Tony takes pole position with Scolari and Zebadee clsoe behind

Fat Tony came from just 2k in chips after the first 15 mins to finish first in the 2nd tourney of the series. A combinaton of luck, skill, lager, wine, the Gold Star's fish and mint flavoured bubbly Aero were said to be the main contributing factors.

Scolaris was 2nd with a welcome return from Zebadee seeing him cash in 3rd.

T3 and T4 Fri 4th Mar and Sun 6th Mar respectively.

22nd Feb 2011 Pollux takes T1, Iceman 2nd, Banjo & Fat Tony go fishing at the Gold Star

Pollux took T1 and is looking at more physiotherapy on his left arm as the weight of the bracelets just gets heavier and heavier. Fat Tony played a more reserved game and was unlucky to run into a couple of bad beat rivers when looking to double up. Banjo played solid and just made one bad play near the end which cost him all his chips.

Iceman was unlucky to lose and his steady approach kept him chipped up most of the night and was never really in trouble at any point. A run of calls against Pollux did put a slight dent in his stack as Pollux patient but aggressive play with big hands won several big pots.

The final hand saw Iceman open for 5k with AA, Pollux under the gun called with JQos. The flop came 8h 9h 10d. Pollux checked his straight and Iceman fired in 15k which was eventually called after some hesitation. The turn was a 5c and Iceman went all in. Pollux insta-called almost pulling an arm out its socket. The straight left Iceman drawing dead.

The New 2011 series saw a welcome to Sin Cinnattii and several other players as the New format with random double points and joker double points was introduced.

Smokey, Lester and Fat Tony all used the first of their two available jokers. No Ace was turned in the Random Double Pointer draw at the start of the game so this became a single pointer and all jokers counted as double points not triple points.

From T2 players will be given 10,000 chips as opposed to the usual 8,000 to give a slightly deeper stack and encourage more players in more pots.

A late registration period of one hour is now available at all tourneys. Players must ring or text or be paid in by another player during this period. Any players registering late is not allowed to use their joker if the tourney has already been declared a Random Double Pointer. If it hasn't, then they can late register and also use their joker if eligable to do so.

17th Feb 2011 New Series starts Sunday 20th February

Hi all, just a quick reminder that the first tourney of the New Series is this Sunday 20th February at 8:00 p.m. Entry fee is £22.

The New series will see the introduction of two Bounty Hunter Tourney's (T10 and T20), the usual Double Pointers, Joker Tourneys and random double pointers.

To explain more:

  • T8, T16, T24 and T32 will all be Double Pointers. Usual rules apply.
  • Every other tourney will start by a card being randomly chosen (Ace through to 10) If this card chosen is an Ace then that tourney too will be Double Points and called a Random Double Pointer.  SO every tourney has a 10-1 chance of also being a Double Pointer. There is no limit to the number of the Random Double Pointers in a series.
  • Every player in a series of 32 will be eligible to use Two jokers in that series. A players declares before the random card above is chosen if they will be using their Joker in that night's tourney. Any player declaring they will use their Joker in a tourney will automatically receive Double points for that tourney. If that tourney also end up being a Random Double Pointer then they will receive Triple points as a Bonus.
  • Players cannot declare they are using their Joker in T8, T16, T24 or T32 and must use both Jokers by T31.
  • Bounty Hunters Tourney are the usual rules but the prize money on the night will be divided into two pots. There will be one pot with the usual guaranteed prizes for 1s, 2nd 3rd etc. and another where every player in that tourney will have a cash Bounty placed on their head. Any player who knocks out another player will 75% of the Bounty on their opponents head which cannot be lost and will be paid out as a cash prize later. The more bounty's they win the more cash they win. If they finish in the top 3 they also win whatever the cash prize is for that pot as well. As a player wins bounty's from other players 75% goes into their bounty and the other 25% goes on the bounty on their own head. Obviously taking out a player later in the tourney will be more rewarding as it will result in a bigger bounty being won as players still left in at that stage will usually have accrued a larger bounty on their head as they too have knocked out other players along the way.

It will become clear as play progresses. All usual Teas Hold'em rules apply. Any probs or question let me know. Please see website for more details and results of tourneys as we progress.

Good luck everyone.

10th Feb 2011 New Series to start soon

Hi all, after some negotiations with the club, the New Poker Series will soon be starting in approx 1-2 weeks, once I have everything set up. We will be running the usual 32 tourney set-up with a final table at the end.

There will be a few new rules and the odd format change to spice things up a bit, but in the main everything is the same. I will email full details once I have everything in place. I expect to run at least two of these 32 series tourneys (each lasting approx 6 months) which should keep us going for the next 12 -13 months.

Entry fee will be £22 per player. £2 of which goes to the club over the next 64 comps. This is being used to pay for upgrades to snooker facilities about to happen in the club. I hope you all like the new improvements. The other £20 goes to prizes on the night and a rake for the final table prizes etc as usual.

After the 64 comps if people want to continue with this let me know and I will be better placed then to let you know where things stand and if I am in a position to keep running it.

Anyone not having renewed their membership in the club please do so before 15th Fed or it will lapse. The fee, if not already paid, is now £25 as a late payment of £5 now applies. Strictly members only for the coming series.  New guests are welcome providing they are accompanied by a member and signed into the club and the usual £1 fee paid to the club on entrance. New players continuing to play will be expected to apply for membership and will only be accepted at the committee's discretion.

Please let anyone not on this email list know. I will try my best to contact as many by text and also put this notice on the poker website.

Finally, can someone please try and win a bracelet this year, as the weight of these eight is really affecting my snooker arm. Ahem!

As usual any comments or suggestions welcome. Please text me on 077232737237723747283239945945827347234748593495934345345.

13 th Sept 2010 Pollux pips Ace Rage and Fat Tony to take bracelet no.6

The Final Game event will be held on Fri 1st Oct.  7:00 p.m - 12:00. All players ranked 1-25 are eligible to play. No new players can play in this event. Final allotted chip stacks are on the website www.knowsleypoker.com

ALL players playing (including top ten) buy-in is £22.

11th Sept 2010 Ace Rage takes out Pollux (Again) in heads up

Congrats to Ace Rag who once again dumped on Pollux when  4-1 down in chips in the heads up part of T13. Ace Rag now looks favourite to take the Series Championship Bracelet as we go to the final tourney of the series tomorrow (Sunday 12th Sept)

Given there are bound to be a larger number of players for the last in the series there will also be more points available so things can still change a lot at the top as we've seen in the past.

After Sundays final game everyone who has played in at least one event will be allowed to play in the FINAL TABLE Game (though there may be two tables). Obviously there will be more than 10 players in this event. All players inc top ten at this Final Game will still buy in for the normal £22 to help the pot as we are running a very shortened series.

Players outside the top ten who decide to join the Final Game will receive the usual 8,000 chips for their buy-in fee. The top ten will receive the following number of chips:

10th - 15,000
9th - 16,500
8th - 18,000
7th - 19,500
6th - 21,000
5th - 22,500
4th - 24,000
3rd - 25,500
2nd - 27,000
1st - 28,500

Blinds will be altered accordingly for the Final Game and will start at 100-200.

The Final Game will be played over one 5 hour session on a date that suits the top ten, more than  likely to be the last Sunday in Sept or Sunday 3rd Oct from 7:00 p.m - 12:00 midnight.

Any rakes built up so far will also be added to the final prize money and the prizes will be announced once I know the final total. Obviously there will be some cash to take out for the usual renewal fees of the domain name and hosting for the website as well as the final two bracelets and the pre-games showies and possibly a chinese buffet depending on how much we have to play with.

Only The top 8 places will receive a prize. Obviously prizes will be much reduced because of the shortened series. The amounts will be sorted later but based on an estimated 12 entries in the last tourney and 15 arriving on the Final Game Night, estimated prizes are as follows:

13th Aug 2010 Five different winners after T5

The first five tourneys have produced a new winner in each event. T7 and T8 are approaching fast with both being DOUBLE POINTERS.

A big welcome back too to Lester who has been away for some time recovering from his 42 over par round of golf at Bowring Park. The course is just under 6,000 yards long, but spectators say Lester did nearer to 20,000 yards on his way around the course.

Having just likened Tiger Woods golf swing to a precision machine like pendulum, one of the golf pro coaches commented Lester had a swing like a man trapped in a phone booth with a rattle snake! - Let's hope he continues his superb recovery on and off the table :-)

29th July 2010 Fat Tony Beats Record as The Bull Continues fine form

The Bull made it a 1, 2 in T1 and T2 resp. to continue his impressive from from the end of the last series.

Fat Tony took T2 and on the way beat the previous record of 8 knockouts in a single comp by taking out 12 player in one tounrey - greedy F***er !

The next Million dollar comp is scheduled for Dec so get your pennies in now to make sure you have a good chips stack for this incredible event.

12th July 2010 Pollux Does Double

Pollux has also won the Million Dollar Tourney to round off an incredible weekend!

The 20 man field also saw Smokey come 2nd with Razor 3rd and The Bandit 4th

Details to follow...

11th July 2010 Pollux and The Bandit takes 2010_1 Honours

The Bandit (2) is the 2010_1 Series Winner.

The Bandit (2) took the £50 bonus to win the 2010_1 Series amassing six tourney victoriew along the way. This was his 2nd Bracelet and was almost followed by a third at the FINAL TABLE when he was narrowly beaten by Pollux who went on to win his fith title.

Pollux (5) is the 2010_1 FINAL TABLE CHIPS champion.

Pollux (5) now becomes a FIVE-TIME bracelet winner and joins other bracelet winners Banjo Bob (1), The Gent (1), Evil (2) and The Bandit (1) in the Hall of Fame. Details to follow...

22nd June 2010 Ooooohhhh Scolariiiii !!

Scolari takes T28 and edges into the top 10. He actually has the 7th highest total points but the 75% rule now comes into play.

This bascially means there's nothing between 6 and 12th positions and anyone down to 16th can qualify for te FINAL TABLE top ten positions with either two wins in the last two DOUBLE POINTERS or for some it will just be a case of two very respectable performances.

With big swings in the number of chips available on FINALS NIGHT will depend on the outcoems of the final to wtourneys which are both DOUBLE POINTERS this Friday and this Sunday so everyone will want to finish as high as possible.
